Five for Friday!

Five for Friday is a weekly teacher linky party where you post five random things from today or this past week and on your blog. Check out the linky party at Doodle Bugs Teaching.

Back from Japan!

We've been back a few weeks from our Japan holiday and I'm getting back into the daily grind of work and such.  It was such a fantastic trip!  It opened my eyes to a whole new culture, even though I lived there when I was 3 years old. (But who remembers life that far back?)  One thing that really stuck with me was that I now understand how someone who doesn't speak English feels when they visit the U. S.  Not as much as they do because the trains provided English messages, but it's interesting how you can get around without internet on your phone and not knowing the native language.  It definitely got my mind working in ways I was unfamiliar with.  I recommend everyone visit this country!  So much to see, do, learn and share!

Language Arts Anchor Charts

Before we went on our Japan holiday I was working on some new anchor charts.  My Reading Anchor Charts product seems to be my most selling item, so I decided to create one for Language Arts (Parts of Speech & Punctuation).  Unfortunately, my computer crashed on me and wouldn't turn on, and the nearest Apple Store was a 7 hour drive away.  It was sent out to get fixed just before we left.  Got it back working and took my time finishing this product!  It's the same concept of the Reading version and I've got plans for more anchor charts in the future.  I'll also work on more Language Arts information, such as types of sentences, editing/grammar, and more.

Scientific Method Anchor Charts

This is still a work in progress at the moment!  It uses the same themes as all my anchor charts, including Bright Colors/General, Ocean Waves, and I'm working on Chalkboard themes for all anchor charts.  I really like this one because it includes a game (played matching or SCOOT), vocabulary cards for a Word Wall, worksheets, and Science Safety posters.   I'm working on my anchor charts and developing ways to make them more creative and useful in the classroom. Have you purchased any of my anchor charts? Please share your thoughts on how you feel about them.  I would also like to know if there is anything you think I could do to make them more helpful.

Visa Application

I'm in the middle of applying for a Visa to stay in Australia!  Looks like a lot of work, but luckily I'm organized.  I'm pretty much done on my part.  All I need to do is certify my copies and get declarations from friends in Australia.  The hard part?  WAITING! Apparently it can take a long while to hear back on your application.  Luckily, I can stay in the country and work while I'm waiting for approval.  Fingers crossed for me!

Gone Girl

I'm a little late to the game, but I'm in the middle of reading Gone Girl.  I never saw the movie and avoided anything online regarding this book/movie.  Everyone I talked to says it's good and they were blown away.  So naturally I'm curious as to what happens.  No spoilers from me, but I already had a "OMG! I knew it! OMG!" moment.
